In line with Oman Vision 2040 and the "Hadatha" Cybersecurity Industry Development Program with a national vision of a specialized cybersecurity industry that enhances and diversifies economic growth, under his Majesty leadership the government has paid great attention to diversifying sources of income based on technology, knowledge and innovation, as it directed to make the digital economy a priority and a tributary to the national economy by creating an infrastructure and advanced technology that is possible for all sectors and capable of absorbing the developments and challenges of cybersecurity, in order to achieve the strategic direction of a diversified and sustainable economy.

Accordingly, The Cybersecurity Industry Development Watch Center was launched in October 2024 during the activities of the 12th Regional Cybersecurity Week in the Sultanate of Oman, which is the first of its kind in the world. It focuses on studying and analyzing developments in the cybersecurity sector from an economic perspective, whether at the level of the Sultanate of Oman or globally. The center seeks to provide accurate data and in-depth analyses to support decision-makers, enhance awareness of cybersecurity, and follow up on the ongoing changes in this vital industry.

The center aspires to be a global reference for monitoring the cybersecurity industry, enabling government and private entities to benefit from reliable data that help them develop effective strategies to address cybersecurity challenges and leverage available opportunities.

Objectives: 


1. Providing a Comprehensive Vision from an Economic Perspective

  • Analyzing the global cybersecurity market, including future trends and investments.
  • Assessing the economic impact of cyberattacks on various industries and businesses.
  • Supporting innovation in cybersecurity by offering insights into investment and growth opportunities.

2. Monitoring the Status of the Cybersecurity Industry Development

  • Tracking emerging technologies and trends, such as artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, advanced encryption techniques, and quantum computing.
  • Evaluating the readiness of institutions and digital infrastructure to tackle cyber threats.
  • Publishing periodic reports on the cybersecurity maturity levels of different countries and sectors.

3. Enhancing and Facilitating Decision-Making

  • Supporting government entities and decision-makers with reliable data and analyses to help develop national cybersecurity Industry development policies and strategies.
  • Providing recommendations on improving cybersecurity Industry development measures for both public and private institutions.
  • Contributing to the development of regulatory standards and frameworks in alignment with international best practices.

4. Raising Cybersecurity Awareness

  • Organizing workshops, training courses, and conferences to increase awareness of cyber threats and preventive measures and the Market opportunities for such competencies.
