About
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is a fundamental pillar in supporting the comprehensive development journey of the Sultanate of Oman. It oversees the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, including ports and airports. These projects contribute to strengthening Oman’s logistical connectivity with regional and global markets, supporting economic diversification goals, and stimulating sustainable growth across various economic, industrial, commercial, and tourism sectors.
In line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, the Ministry is working to develop the transport and logistics sectors to rank among the top ten globally, enhancing their role as key enablers of economic growth and as a supportive source of national income. From a regulatory perspective, the Ministry is responsible for organizing the land and maritime transport sectors by developing legislative and regulatory frameworks that ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and compliance.
In the digital domain, the Ministry acts as the enabler of government digital transformation by developing and implementing relevant national strategies and policies. This contributes to improving government performance efficiency, fostering innovation, and supporting a knowledge-based digital economy. In alignment with Oman Vision 2040, the Ministry launched the National Digital Economy Program (2021–2025), which includes the Government Digital Transformation Program, implemented in collaboration with various government entities. The program aims to deliver integrated digital government services, proactive solutions, and outstanding digital experiences that meet the needs of individuals and businesses.
The Government Digital Transformation Program is built on a set of key enablers, including open data, community engagement, the development of innovative digital solutions, and excellence in government performance. It also involves activating shared national platforms and systems to enhance government integration, improve institutional readiness, and support efficient resource management and strategic planning in a flexible and integrated manner. Through strategic partnerships with government entities and the private sector, a package of priority initiatives and projects is being implemented, identified based on national priorities and their economic and competitive impact. These efforts contribute to building an advanced digital government characterized by efficiency and flexibility, capable of keeping pace with change, and delivering digital services that meet international standards.
