Licensed Transportation Applications in the Sultanate of Oman: Ensuring Safety and Service Quality
Start Date: 01 June 2023
End Date: 01 January 2040
Status: Completed
As part of its efforts to regulate the transportation sector and improve the quality of services provided to citizens, residents, and visitors, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in the Sultanate of Oman has launched an awareness campaign emphasizing the importance of using licensed transportation applications. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to digital transformation and the adoption of smart and secure mobility solutions.
The Ministry has officially approved a number of transportation applications operating within the Sultanate. These include: Otaxi, Yango, Marhaba, Oman Taxi, Taxi Muscat, Taxi F, Hala Taxi, and Tasleem Taxi. All of these platforms are fully licensed and comply with the Ministry’s standards for safety and quality, ensuring a reliable and comfortable travel experience for users.
Through these applications, passengers can easily book taxis via their smartphones, know the trip fare in advance, and track the driver in real time — enhancing transparency and trust between passengers and drivers. This initiative also contributes to organizing the transportation market and creating new job opportunities for drivers within a well-regulated framework. The Ministry’s campaign slogan, “Your rides are guaranteed”, highlights that using licensed applications is the safest and most reliable option for daily travel. The public is also urged to avoid unlicensed services to ensure their safety and protect their rights.
With this initiative, the Sultanate of Oman reaffirms its commitment to embracing technological advancement in the transportation sector, fostering innovation in smart services, and supporting the goals of Oman Vision 2040 toward a sustainable and digitally empowered economy.
