The National Program for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies 

The Sultanate of Oman’s National Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies is a concrete implementation programme led by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), with a defined implementation period from 2024 to the end of 2026.

It specifies identifiable actions including establishing the National Open Data Platform, National Centre for AI Research and Development, AI Studio, Omani language model, and Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and sets a measurable target for Oman to become one of the top 50 countries in the Oxford Insights Government AI Readiness Index.

Implementation is also financially supported through government development allocations: the Ministry of Economy officially allocated OMR 10 million for AI projects in 2024 and OMR 15 million for 2025, including OMR 10 million for government entities and OMR 5 million for governorates to integrate AI applications into development projects.

The program also includes initiatives to foster public-private partnerships, support startups, and attract investments, aiming to grow the digital economy and achieve globally competitive indicators.
