Date Published: 18 October 2026
The International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) has announced the selection of Sayyida Ziyana bint Ali bin Saud Al Said as President of the Middle East and North Africa Society of Air Safety Investigators (MENASASI), effective 1 September 2026. The appointment reflects international recognition of the Sultanate of Oman’s professional standing and contributions to aviation safety and aircraft accident investigation. It also highlights the prominent role of Omani professionals in regional and international professional organizations.
MENASASI is a regional chapter of ISASI, which was founded in the United States in 1964. The international society promotes cooperation among aircraft accident and incident investigation professionals and facilitates the exchange of information and expertise to advance aviation safety practices. Established in 2013, MENASASI aims to strengthen professional links among investigators across the region, facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge and expertise, organise specialised programmes and seminars, and keep pace with developments in aircraft accident investigation and prevention.
The appointment of an Omani leader to this position is expected to further strengthen Oman’s international presence, advance regional cooperation and support the exchange of expertise and capacity building in aircraft accident investigation across the region. This will further reinforce the Sultanate’s standing in civil aviation safety. The appointment builds on Oman’s efforts to strengthen its participation in professional organisations concerned with aviation safety. On 17 November 2020, the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers approved Oman’s membership of ISASI, supporting international cooperation and the development of national expertise in the sector.
