In his opening remarks, Eng. This is achieved through attracting investments, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and positioning the logistics sector as the second-largest contributor to GDP by 2040.
Al-Busaidi explained that the annual celebration of Logistics Day reaffirms the importance of this sector as one of the fundamental pillars of the national economy, reflecting the depth of Oman's logistics heritage and the continuity of its development. This sector also highlights its role in enhancing integration between various sectors and improving performance efficiency, as confirmed by the positive indicators achieved recently.
He emphasised the Ministry’s keenness, in this edition of Logistics Day, to ensure that the outcomes of the agreements and initiatives go beyond formal signing to create a lasting impact that meets the ambitions of the current phase. The agreements and initiatives are integrated and diverse, starting with investment in people through the training and qualification of specialised logistics personnel, extending to supporting scientific research and innovation, harnessing digital intelligence and logistics technology solutions, and advancing broader pathways in the green economy. This aims to establish an integrated ecosystem that consolidates a modern logistics base capable of competing globally and keeping pace with future aspirations.
Al-Busaidi reviewed the key indicators of growth in the transport and logistics sector, saying: The contribution of the transport and storage sector to the GDP reached approximately 2.23 billion Omani Rials in 2024, rising to 2.35 billion Omani Rials in 2025, recording a growth rate of 5.4%.
