The Sultanate of Oman is exploring the enhancement of logistical integration with the Republic of Uzbekistan

In the context of enhancing bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Engineer Khamis bin Mohammed Al-Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Transport, headed the Sultanate of Oman's delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. The aim was to develop areas of joint cooperation and enhance integration in the transport and logistics system, supporting comprehensive economic development between the two countries and solidifying the Sultanate of Oman's position as a regional transit hub connecting Central Asian countries to global markets.

The visit, attended by Her Excellency Ambassador Mrs. Wafa bint Jabr Al-Busaidiya, included a series of meetings and discussions with several government entities and businessmen in the Republic of Uzbekistan. These focused on addressing logistical challenges and enhancing trade flows, as well as exploring joint investment opportunities in transport infrastructure and logistics services.


The delegation participated in a roundtable with businessmen, during which the main challenges related to the movement of goods thru logistical corridors were reviewed, and mechanisms for designing more efficient transit routes were discussed. These routes would facilitate the smooth flow of goods and enhance sustainable trade between the two countries, achieving integration in supply chains and improving the efficiency of logistical services.


The delegation also held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during which they discussed ways to develop logistical corridors between the two countries, enhance the connectivity between road and rail transport networks, and explore opportunities for joint investment in logistical infrastructure projects, contributing to linking Central Asian countries with the ports of the Sultanate of Oman and opening new horizons for transcontinental trade.


In the context of enhancing customs coordination to expedite the movement of goods thru logistics hubs, the delegation met with the advisor to the head of the Uzbek Customs Committee. The two sides discussed ways to accelerate customs clearance procedures, reduce shipment transit times, enhance the exchange of pre-arrival data among relevant authorities, and implement best customs practices. This is expected to contribute to improving the efficiency of supply chains and the smooth flow of goods thru logistics hubs.


In the aviation sector, the delegation met with the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where they discussed enhancing air connectivity between the two countries and opening a direct flight route between Muscat and Tashkent, which would support passenger and air cargo movement. The delegation also held a meeting with the CEO of Centrumm Air, where they discussed including Muscat in the company's flight network and operating regular direct flights, in addition to developing commercial air cargo services thru the Sultanate of Oman.


In the context of supporting digital transformation in the transport sector, the ministry's delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies in the Republic of Uzbekistan, where the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, communications, and technical infrastructure, as well as digital solutions supporting the transport and logistics sector. This contributes to the development of an intelligent and sustainable transport system that enhances the efficiency of operational processes and supports logistical integration between the two countries.
