A World of Innovation and Excellence: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Captures Attention at COMEX 2025
Date Published: 09 September 2025
The pavilion of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) at COMEX 2025 stood out with pioneering projects showcased at this year’s edition. The pavilion featured diverse initiatives spanning the Ministry’s digital and service sectors.
A special section equipped with smart screens introduced visitors to the Cybersecurity Industry Monitoring Center, officially launched by the Ministry at the exhibition’s opening ceremony. The Center serves as a strategic platform for the cybersecurity industry, empowered by Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to drive economic growth, provide vital data and indicators for decision-making, and transform challenges into opportunities.
The pavilion also hosted a dedicated space for the national large language model “Mu’een”, where visitors learned about Oman’s ambitious project to develop an AI model that reflects the country’s language and cultural identity. The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency across government institutions through AI systems tailored to understand and process local contexts and official texts.
Between interactive smart displays and automated response devices answering visitors’ queries, the pavilion also featured the Interactive Artificial Intelligence Exhibition. The exhibition included demonstrations of AI-enhanced government services, interactive AI-powered games, and a medical application for diagnosing diabetic retinopathy, delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
Adjacent to this was the Oman Artificial Intelligence Studio, a model space designed as a collaborative hub, fostering engagement between AI specialists, institutions, and companies seeking to leverage AI solutions to address their operational challenges.
At the heart of the pavilion, visitors experienced a specialized zone for learning and practicing drone piloting skills, alongside a section dedicated to unveiling the Ministry’s new official website, offering insights into its key services and functions.
Through dynamic digital screens, visitors also explored the new initiatives launched by the Ministry during the opening ceremony, most notably the introduction of 30 new services on the Unified Digital Services Portal. These services, provided jointly by MTCIT, the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, bring the total to 33 fully integrated services within the portal, in addition to 3,114 services catalogued in the Government Digital Services Directory.
The portal is now supported by a smart assistant, guiding users through their digital journey in both Arabic and English, ensuring seamless access to services and details.
Another highlight was the dedicated platform for “Thiqah” Digital Authentication Services, which provides citizens and residents of Oman with a secure digital identity. This service enables users to authenticate and securely access government and non-government electronic services, as well as perform certified e-signatures for transactions and documents.
Complementing the experience, the pavilion showcased the Oman Tech Startups Directory Platform, which highlighted its capabilities in producing detailed reports and analytics on the actual status of ICT companies in the Sultanate. The platform enables classification of companies by services and technologies, while also allowing startups to update their information and showcase their products and solutions.
