Date Published: 19 October 2025
As part of the vision of the Executive Program for Cybersecurity Industry "Hadatha," the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, represented by the National Center for Information Security, in collaboration with the Middle East College, inaugurated the Hadatha Center for Cybersecurity Industry at the college's premises, in support of innovation and excellence and to enhance the outputs of the National Cybersecurity Industry Program.
The inauguration ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al-Hadabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation for Scientific Research and Innovation.
The Hadatha Center is one of the national initiatives stemming from the executive program for the cybersecurity industry. It aims to enhance innovation and the entrepreneurial culture in the field of cybersecurity, in addition to providing income-generating opportunities thru an integrative framework that includes the public and private sectors, innovators and investors, and academic institutions.
The center's vision is based on making the Sultanate of Oman a leader in the fields of innovation and cybersecurity at the level of the Arab region, by supporting a national industry specialized in this field, which relies on human capital and is based on creativity and excellence thru knowledge management and the design and development of local cybersecurity products and services using modeling and testing technologies.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology confirmed that the establishment of the center comes within the framework of supporting the innovation system in the field of cybersecurity, considering that innovation today is a fundamental necessity to keep pace with rapid technological developments, ensure the efficiency and continuity of digital systems, and achieve sustainable information security.
The choice of the Middle East College as the first private higher education institution in the Sultanate to host the Hadatha Center for Cybersecurity Industry was due to its academic qualifications and advanced infrastructure, which qualify it to foster an environment conducive to research and innovation. This contributes to enhancing the knowledge-based economy and opening new horizons for technological entrepreneurship.
The operational plan for the center includes specialized training programs and practical workshops under the supervision of the National Cyber Safety Center, in addition to organizing events, the most notable of which is the "Hadatha Hackathon," aimed at stimulating creativity and competition in finding solutions to cyber challenges, as well as accelerator and incubator programs to support entrepreneurial ideas and emerging projects in the field.
In the context of the event, the "Cybersecurity Challenges" page was announced, which is a national platform aimed at monitoring and studying real-world challenges in the field of cybersecurity, under the supervision of the National Cybersecurity Center. The goal is to enhance cooperation between the academic, industrial, and governmental sectors, and to encourage the development of innovative national solutions that contribute to building local cybersecurity products and services capable of competing regionally and globally.
