Date Published: 02 October 2025
The Authority for Projects, Tenders, and Local Content, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, has announced the awarding of two major infrastructure projects: the completion of remaining works on the Sultan Said bin Taimour dual carriageway from the Wilayat of Adam to the Wilayat of Thumrait (Phase One and Phase Three), and the completion of pending works on the Sinaw–Muhoot–Duqm Road (Phase One).
The Sultan Said bin Taimour Road project includes the dualization of the remaining section from the Wilayat of Adam to the center of the Wilayat of Haima, covering a length of 37.5 km. The works comprise protective structures, installation of directional and traffic signs, road markings, safety barriers (metal and concrete), and ground reflectors. The project further entails the design and construction of a U-turn at the entrance to Qarn Al Alam, the dualization of a 5 km stretch of the Haima–Duqm road with a new roundabout at the junction leading to the Camel Racing Track, and the construction of a 16 km-long service road on both sides of the Adam–Haima highway starting from the Haima roundabout. In addition, the project includes the paving of truck and bus parking areas as part of the Haima Frontage Project with a total area of 25,000 m², as well as the development of a 4.5 km service road in front of the Roads Department and the Office of the Wali. With this award, the dualization of Sultan Said bin Taimour Road will be completed, linking Al Dakhiliyah Governorate all the way to Dhofar Governorate.
Meanwhile, the Sinaw–Muhoot–Duqm Road project (Phase One) covers works at seven different locations, including Masroon Roundabout, which involves the installation of signage and lighting; the Sinaw Industrial Area road leading to Al Mudhaibi; final works on the dedicated trucks road; and remaining works on the main Sinaw–Muhoot–Duqm highway, which include protective works, barriers, and signage. The scope also covers concrete road works in the Samad Al Shan area, the design and construction of various service roads with a total length of 9 km, and the design and execution of the Al-Khashbah link road extending 11 km.
These projects are part of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology’s strategic plan to enhance Oman’s national road network, improve its quality, and ensure the highest levels of road safety. They will also contribute to stimulating tourism, trade, and social activities across the Sultanate’s governorates.
