The newly opened stretch begins from the Maslaq area and extends to the Saih Al Airport area near the Royal Army of Oman camp, passing through the Sur gateway for motorists arriving from the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wal Wafi. The opening is expected to enhance traffic flow and improve road safety standards along the route.

The opening of this stretch forms part of the ongoing implementation works of the project, which is considered one of the ministry’s strategic infrastructure projects due to its significance in developing the road network in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, strengthening connectivity between wilayats, and supporting economic, tourism and development activities across the governorate.

The project includes the construction of a dual carriageway built to modern technical specifications, featuring three traffic lanes in each direction along certain sections. It also comprises the construction of several flyovers, wadi crossings, underpasses and drainage culverts to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and enhance the efficiency of land transport infrastructure.

The ministry affirmed that the newly opened stretch has been equipped with all road safety requirements, including steel and concrete barriers, directional and warning signs, and road markings, ensuring a safe traffic environment for road users and improving mobility between the wilayats of the governorate.
