Sultanate of Oman Participates in GCC Ministerial Committee Meeting on Cybersecurity in Manama

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, participated in the fifth meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee on Cybersecurity, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies the heads of cybersecurity authorities and centres in the GCC states, along with His Excellency the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council and specialists from the GCC General Secretariat.

The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation to the meeting was headed by H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the implementation of the initiatives under the action plan of the GCC Cybersecurity Strategy (2024–2028). It also discussed a number of topics related to the GCC cybersecurity ecosystem and executive action plans, ways to enhance cooperation among the GCC states in this field, and joint initiatives aimed at increasing the level of digital protection, addressing growing cyber threats, and developing digital infrastructure.

During the meeting, the GCC Basic Cybersecurity Guidelines and the GCC Cybersecurity Guidelines for Data were approved.
