The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is intensifying its efforts to implement the Aqabat Aafri Road and Al Saqari Village Road Project in the Wilayats of Samail and Izki in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, with the project reaching a completion rate of 60 percent. The project forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop the road network and enhance connectivity between the Wilayats and Governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, contributing to smoother traffic flow and supporting social and economic development in the Governorate and surrounding areas.
The total cost of the project amounts to OMR 4.60 million. The project includes the design and construction of the Aqabat Aafri Road, with a length of 3.2 kilometers, linking the Wilayats of Samail and Izki. It also connects Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road with Wadi Mahram Road, making it a vital route for linking the villages of Wadi Mahram with the center of the Wilayat of Samail. This contributes to reducing travel distances and improving traffic flow between villages and Wilayat centers.
The project further includes the construction of Al Saqari Village Road in the Wilayat of Samail, with a length of 3 kilometers, connecting Al Saqari Village to the existing paved Lower Wadi Andam Road. The project is characterized by advanced engineering specifications, with the road comprising two traffic lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, in addition to asphalt shoulders with a width of 1.5 meters and earth shoulders with a width of 1.0 meter on each side.
In addition, the project includes the construction of culverts for rainwater drainage and wadi crossings to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow under various weather conditions. It also provides road safety features, including metal and concrete barriers, traffic signs, and road markings, as well as the diversion and protection of utility services intersecting with the road alignment.
