The Sultanate of Oman participated in the global tech conference (Leap) held in Saudi Arabia from March 4 to 7, 2024. Oman's participation in this conference comes as an initiative by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, reflecting the ministry's commitment to promoting innovation and technological development, and striving to enhance the technological infrastructure and support startups in Oman.
The Omani participation carries a key marketing message titled "Connecting the World," aiming to enhance the image of the Sultanate of Oman as an advanced technology hub and a catalyst for innovation. The participation also aims to introduce the components of the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman, promote Omani tech startups in local, regional, and international markets, and highlight the Sultanate of Oman as a regional hub attractive for investments in the technology sector.
Oman's participation this year includes 15 exhibitors, representing various government and private sector entities, including the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and the Public Authority for Industrial Estates "Madayn," along with leading technology companies such as Omantel, Ithraa, and Datapark, among others.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, stated, "The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, along with 65 government institutions and emerging technology companies, is participating in the LEAP exhibition and conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This exhibition is considered one of the most important technology exhibitions in the region and an opportunity to exchange investment opportunities and build bridges of cooperation between private institutions and their counterparts in these countries."
His Excellency Dr. added, "The exhibition discusses several topics, the most important of which are technological developments in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and human capacity building. Thru our presence at this exhibition and in collaboration with government institutions, we aim to present investment opportunities to global investors and companies. We also seek to sign several agreements between Omani companies and global companies."
The Oman Pavilion at the accompanying exhibition of the conference features distinctive sections that represent Oman's efforts in the fields of digital transformation and advanced technologies. Among these sections, the Government Digital Transformation Program stands out, where the Ministry of Interior showcases its digital transformation experience thru applications: "Vote, Election, and Development." Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology presents introductory sessions on digital transformation programs and how to empower sectors thru them. Additionally, there are many other diverse sections that highlight the Sultanate of Oman's experience in the field of cybersecurity and green technology initiatives supporting carbon neutrality.
It is worth mentioning that the Global Tech Conference (Leap) is an annual conference held in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This conference is considered the largest technology conference and exhibition focusing on the future of technologies and their role in the prosperity of humanity. The first edition was held from February 1-3, 2022, and the second edition of the conference took place from February 6-9, 2023.
Oman's participation in the Global Tech Conference (Leap) for 2024 is an important addition to the series of initiatives aimed at enhancing international cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of technology, thereby strengthening Oman's position and status on the map of innovation and technological development at both the regional and global levels.
