The bootcamp was organized as part of the “Makeen” initiative aimed at developing digital competencies and was implemented by Al Nahda Training Institute in cooperation with the global company Unity, with the participation of a number of specialists in technology and video game development. The bootcamp spanned six months and targeted job seekers from various technical backgrounds, in addition to individuals interested in digital game development. A total of 50 male and female trainees participated across two main tracks: game programming and game art and design.

The program equipped participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with a strong focus on developing applied projects using the Unity game engine. It also sought to enhance participants’ capabilities through exposure to the latest technologies and the development of personal and professional skills, thereby increasing their readiness for the labor market. Furthermore, the bootcamp provided opportunities for direct engagement with the labor market and interaction with specialized technology companies, enabling participants to transition into freelance work after graduation and benefit from available opportunities in the digital games sector at the local and regional levels.

At the conclusion of the event, the winning teams of the competition were announced following three consecutive days of competition to develop innovative games that reflect Omani identity, are fully integrated in design, and free from technical issues. Team Next Levet secured first place, followed by Team D.S.H.M.O in second place, while Team Metro achieved third place. Team Sirdam came in fourth place, and Team Heisenberg ranked fifth. The winning teams were honored with cash prizes in recognition of their creativity and excellence in game development.

The bootcamp represents a significant step in supporting and empowering Omani youth and enhancing their competitiveness in the digital game development sector. It also reflects the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing national technical talent and building a new generation of skilled digital professionals
