Omani Delegation Concludes Algeria Visit with Smart Water Solutions MoU

The Omani delegation, led by H.E. Dr Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, concluded a three-day visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on smart water solutions. The MoU was signed between OTEC Company, represented by Future Cities SAOC (Tadom), the Omani Water and Wastewater Services Company (Nama Water Services), and Société des Eaux et de l'Assainissement d'Alger (SEAAL) of Algeria to implement a pilot project for an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system for water meters using LoRaWAN technology.

The signing of the MoU forms part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between Omani and Algerian companies in the fields of technology and digital solutions, while promoting the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance water services through the implementation of smart systems that improve metering efficiency, monitoring capabilities, and resource management.

The project aims to implement an integrated automatic meter reading system within a geographical area to be mutually agreed upon, covering 100 accounts in its initial phase. The project includes the supply of ultrasonic water meters in various sizes, supervision of their installation, wireless network planning, the supply and installation of gateways and communication components, and integration with the local cloud environment, including the LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) and Meter Data Management (MDM) system. The signing of the MoU reflects the commitment of Omani and Algerian companies to strengthening technological partnerships, supporting innovation, and exchanging expertise in ways that contribute to the development of advanced digital solutions while enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery.
