Workshop on Shared Government Services and Electronic Integration Begins in Salalah

Salalah, 21 September (ONA) — A two-day awareness workshop on “Shared Government Services and Electronic Integration” began today in the Governorate of Dhofar. Organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the workshop brings together around 150 participants from government entities and is being held under the patronage of H.E. Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.

Eng. Sami bin Suhail Bait Fadhil, Director General of the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure and Platforms at the Ministry, said the workshop aims to raise awareness of shared government services and their role in achieving electronic integration among government entities, as well as to introduce the policies and regulations governing the use of these services.

He explained that the “Electronic Systems Integration Policy for the Administrative Units of the State” provides a framework of rules and regulations governing the interconnection of government systems and the electronic exchange of data and information. This contributes to facilitating access to services and expediting transactions, while ensuring the protection of data and information.

He noted that the “National Government Integration Platform” currently connects 81 government entities, with more than 1.5 million data exchanges processed through the platform each day. The total number of data exchanges through the platform exceeded 600 million in 2025, reflecting the extent to which electronic integration is relied upon in the delivery of government services.

The workshop covers several topics, including the role of the Oman Government Network, the National Centre for Information Safety and Electronic Certification, and the National Government Electronic Integration Platform, as well as mechanisms for accessing and benefiting from their services. It also highlights how these systems complement one another in delivering interconnected government services, supporting greater operational efficiency and accelerating digital transformation.

The workshop aims to raise awareness of shared government services and their role in supporting digital transformation, enable government entities to understand the mechanisms for requesting and benefiting from services within approved frameworks, and clarify the integration among the components of the shared infrastructure, including networks, security, digital trust and electronic integration.

It also seeks to support the secure, reliable and effective exchange of data among government entities, enhance the efficiency of shared government services, and encourage innovation in the design and development of digital services based on shared infrastructure.

The workshop forms part of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology’s efforts to advance digital transformation and the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman and support the objectives of the National Digital Economy Programme and Oman Vision 2040. The workshop is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, Tuesday.
